Mini Game Review! The Darkness 2
-Comic-based FPS
(SPOILER: I may have a few Darkness 1 spoilers in the review, but I do not spoil anything from the second)
Gameplay: Great, you feel like god wielding the darkness. Including talent trees add to the gameplay.
Graphics: Great, a more comic-looking art style than the first game, a cool dark tone throughout the game, obviously.
Sound: Great, I loved the voice acting, very nice sound effects too.
Game Length: 6-8 hours (campaign)
Multiplayer: Decent, you can team up with friends in Vendettas but that’s about it.
Price: 50-60 dollars
Replay Value: Decent, you unlock New Game+ after one playthrough to get the relics and finish off talent trees. Once your done with that you can give Vandettas (and Hit Lists) a whirl.
Achievement Difficulty: Moderate, other than beating the game on “The Don” difficulty, the rest aren’t too tough to get. I got about 30/50 of the achieves after one playthrough, and a bit of mopping up.
Final Verdict: To me this game is a buy, but I may be a bit biased. I have always had a special place for The Darkness. Despite other reviews, I thought the first was awesome, and the sequel just adds much more to what they already have done. While I’m sad that I don’t get to slither around as Jackie’s two friends, I am more happy that despite being dead, Jenny still has a very important role in this sequel. I would have to say Jackie and Jenny’s relationship is my favorite out of the video games I have played. I kind of want to play the first one again to see some of the characters that were in this game.
